February 18, 2019 The last Grand Prix chess tournament of the school year will be Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the University of Manitoba, St. Paul's, Belltower Café. This is a great tournament for both beginners and advanced chess players and will usually only last about 3 hours. It is open to all students from kindergarten to grade 12. You do not have to have played in the other grand prix tournaments to play in this one.

Registration is the day of the tournament between 12:15pm and 12:45pm. Everybody plays in groups divided by rating in a 4 round Swiss-style tournament and there are medals for the top 3 winners in each group. After this Grand Prix tournament, cash prizes will be awarded to those with the most Grand Prix points! For more information contact Jeremie by email at

In addition, one of our experts, Derek Ma, will be giving a half-hour intermediate training session for those who want some more free instruction from 12:15pm to 12:45pm before the tournament. Come early and learn some new strategy and techniques!
